The Long Hot Summer Lasted 2 weeks this year

Hello Gigglebugs,

(If your looking at this on your phone, make sure you go all the way to the end or you'll miss some funnies!)

Welcome to the Summer Edition of the Giggle Box Gazette
It's been quiet a while since you heard from us and we've been busy little gigglebugs! We had a marvelous and outstanding "Take Your Nose to Work Week", the first week of May during World Laughter Week.  Our fair city of Springfield, Mo recognized World Laughter Week by Proclamation this year and many different organizations and business created their own ways to celebrate the week including a Laughter Flash Mob on the city square for the kick-off!

We sure do appreciate Mayor Robert Stevens(he's the one with the beard above) and council woman Jan Fisk for reading the proclamation as well as Roseann Bentley and Steve Grant as our beloved nose posers this year.
( A whole lot of reading that basically says, laughter is good for you and everyone you know, so make a point to do more of it!)
WHEREAS, the 16th annual World Laughter Day will be celebrated on Sunday, May 4, 2014; and
WHEREAS, World Laughter Day was created to build awareness about the benefits of laughter as a tool to decrease stress and increase well-being and joyful attitudes; and
WHEREAS, continued research and development in the field of humor has found that the practice of laughter has positive benefits for the body and mind in physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being; and
WHEREAS, each and every citizen of our world was born to appreciate and utilize laughter as a natural expression of joyful feeling and well-being; and
WHEREAS, leaders everywhere know how laughter elevates the mood, releases the muscles in the body, improves school, work and
social attitudes, attendance and teamwork as it builds a bridge that connects individuals across boundaries in every part of the world; and
WHEREAS, the Giggle Box Project has the mission of reawakening the life-giving power of joy, through laughter and play, while promoting the vision of healing lives through laughter and love, throughout our community; and
 WHEREAS, each and every citizen of our community is encouraged to join in the building of a laughter consciousness during World Laughter Week 2014, that engages the smile, inspires giggles, invites the chuckle, and encourages all to go ahead and laugh out loud with each other in the spirit of health, happiness and joyful mindedness;
encourage all citizens, government entities, businesses, educational systems, media, health institutions, faith groups and not-for-profits to work with the Giggle Box Project to recognize the value and positive benefits of healthy humor and laughter and encourage them to take action! Look for that which is funny, Laugh more!
All are encouraged to focus on that which we have in common, even that in life which is considered the absurd and the ridiculous and deliberately celebrate our blessings, foibles and our common humanity though laughter during World Laughter Week.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Stephens, Mayor of the City of Springfield, Missouri, do hereby proclaim the week May 4-11, 2014 to be
World Laughter Week

We raised close to $6000 after expenses and it was our best year yet!

Thank you so much to EVERYONE who helped out! We would not have had such a successful event without YOU!!!
Sure hope you had fun!

In June we were the chosen charity for the June Bug Festival, the annual VW enthusiasts club car show! Folks from all over the midwest were on hand and The Groove donated a whopping $375 to Giggleboxes!
Thank You Thank You Thank You!

In August we were pleased to be a part of The Annual Natural Healing Arts Fair held at the Shrine Mosque. It was an awesome opportunity for all to explore alternative healing opportunities, and

for Susan to practice her balloon twisting skills that she learned at clown camp the week before.

If you'd like to become more involved, here's an easy way you can help that will make a HUGE difference. Consider a monthly giving plan and slip that $25 check in the mail or online. You'll be bringing joy-filled healing to a new family every month!

There are so many folks to thank and Giggleboxes is so grateful to all of you for your continuing support.

Remember, unless we love ourselves, we have nothing to give to another. Appreciation of what is, is the key.
You can do it!
Be Gentle on Yourself and Enjoy.
